Weider Dumbbell which is the sites name you will be surprised to find out has one of our least recommended series of adjustable weights. The Weider Tech Powerswitch dumbbell series comes in 100 lb weight capacity consisting of two 50lb adjustable dumbbells that are adjustable from 10lb to 50lb via an assembly of 2.5 lb plates. The big plus to this set is you get the added benefit of a professional stand with the weights. This is usually a $150-250 item with other sets. They also offer enough weight for the average persons strength training needs. One of the big cons that we have not been able to resolve at the time of this review is the weight selection mechanisms reliability. The weights are selected via a plastic slider. Many reviews of other users sited a Orange colored slider that did not accurately grab and hold the weights while some later ones mentioned a red colored one that seemed to perform alright. One set I found in a bigger box sporting goods store had the red slider and seemed to perform well. The weights seemed to fit fairly tightly on the stand but I imagine would improve with useage. The plates also had some roughness to the manufacturing. All that being said if you are on a budget the set plus stand gives you the most you are likely to find for the money. My advice would be if you want to stretch your dollar and try this Wider dumbell set just make sure you buy them from a store that has a good return policy in case you do have problems with them. Check back as we are trying to get confirmation that the slider problems have been corrected by the red colored slider.
